Stylish metal decor: making a wall candlestick with your own hands

Candlesticks made from glass bottles and jars

Surely every housewife has a whole warehouse of various jars in her pantry. Use a couple of them to get creative. Let these be stylish candlesticks: pour a little sand inside, add a few sea details, and immerse the candle in the middle. A romantic atmosphere in the kitchen will not hurt you!

Small details add spice to a simple design.

The candlesticks in the next photo look elegant and stylish. Such creativity will not take much time. Take glass jars, glue figures or ribbons (depending on what kind of design you want to get), cover with paint. The candlestick is ready! All that remains is to place the candles and endlessly watch how the light of the flickering lights passes through the transparent figures.

Pour all kinds of “seafood” into a jar, place a candle in it, decorate the neck with a beautiful ribbon - everything you need for a romantic candlestick.

Wooden block candlestick

Another good way to make a candlestick with your own hands is to use a wooden block. Instead, you can use a dry log or a board of appropriate dimensions.

The following tools and materials are needed:

  • a fairly wide dried wooden block;
  • a drill with equipment of a suitable diameter (to make a place for a candle);
  • square;
  • hammer;
  • gloves;
  • roulette;
  • stain and brush;
  • pencil.

We make a candlestick from wood with our own hands:

  • Cut a piece of the bar to the required length. Select sizes based on your needs. Determine how many candles should be placed, what is the distance between them, etc. Sand the cut area.
  • Mark places for candles. Start by determining the length of the edge margins. Next, simply place the candles on the workpiece, as they will then be placed.
  • Use a drill with a suitable attachment to make seats for the candles.
  • If desired, the wood can be given the appearance of antiquity and careless processing by tapping the sides with a hammer.

Stain the wood. Regular paint should not be used, as it will mask the natural wood texture for which the block was used.

How to make, forge a candlestick from a pipe and more, examples of homemade products

The stages of production of forged candlesticks are presented in the following video reviews. Various consumables and forging techniques are used for manufacturing.

From a 25x25 profile pipe with a decorative element: a branch with a leaf, hot forging and bending

  • For production, a 25x25 profile pipe, 180 mm long, and a piece of sheet 2 mm thick are taken. and size 90 by 90. A texture is applied to the heated section of the sheet.
  • One of the ends of the corrugated pipe is heated, processed on the anvil horn, acquires a round shape and, as it were, turns to the sides through hammer blows. This gives the pipe a small base.
  • The pipe is fixed in a vice and twisted slightly.
  • The pipe and a piece of sheet are welded.
  • To decorate the candlestick, elements of floral ornament are produced: a branch with a leaf, made from a rod with a diameter of 10 mm.
  • The rod is heated and processed on an anvil using a hammer.
  • Using a hammer, a texture is applied to the sheet.
  • The element bends and is attached to the candlestick.
  • The product is painted black and patinated.

From ready-made forged elements: baskets, flower-shaped overlays and clamp strips, bending and welding

  • For a candlestick you will need a basket, two flowers of different sizes, and a clamp strip.
  • The flowers are tapped with a hammer to obtain the desired shape for the performer.
  • A larger flower with a protruding base is welded to the basket.
  • Two petals are cut out of a sheet of metal, which will serve to fix the candle. They are given a semicircular shape.
  • The elements are welded, and the welding joints are masked with clamps.

From a piece of 9 mm sheet, hot forging of a product for a low candle

  • A piece of sheet 9 mm thick, measuring 90 by 90, is heated. A round depression is made in it.
  • Using a chisel and a hammer, a texture in the form of stripes and circles is applied to the piece to give the workpiece a more decorative shape.
  • The product is coated with fire-resistant black paint and patinated.

Small decorative candle holder for one candle, hot hammer forging, cutting and welding

  • A sketch of the product is drawn on a sheet of metal with chalk.
  • The square is cut into several blanks, from which decorative elements are made: oak leaves and acorns on a branch.
  • The heated workpieces are processed using a forge hammer and then by hand.
  • A round candle stand is cut out of metal, heated and hammered with a rounded end.
  • The elements are assembled using gas welding technology.
  • The product is painted black and patinated.

Idea 5. Candlestick made of plaster or concrete

Concrete or plaster poured into a container dries and takes the shape of the container. Thus, to make a candlestick with your own hands, you only need to find a suitable disposable container, for example, a plastic bottle or yogurt container.

These cute concrete candle holders were poured into yogurt cups.

Ideas from a jar

Home comfort with three simple jars

Ideas from a jar You can make crafts from various glass or aluminum jars from mayonnaise or canned food. Each material will allow you to recreate unique, chic ideas. Like, for example, in the photo above.

Glass

You've run out of canned cucumbers, but don't rush to throw away the jar - use it for another purpose

Glass A simple, elegant candlestick can be made from a half- or liter jar (an alternative is a vase). First you need to prepare the container: remove the label and sticky traces.

Next, choose one of the design methods:

  1. Painting with acrylic or stained glass paints, glitter from sparkles.
    All you need to do is select an image, transfer it to glass, and wait for it to dry (1-2 hours). If the lamp is intended to create a festive mood, you can apply thematic scenes. For the everyday option, you can choose the point technique (it is the simplest). The image will be more accurate if you apply masking tape. So you can use spray cans for painting
  1. Decorate from the inside. There are as many alternatives as you like: floating candles, adding sand or salt, buttons or beads, a variety of cereals or rhinestones, etc. Don't forget to create bright accents. You can put pine branches, red berries, small cones around
  2. Decorate outside. You can attach decorative beads, stones to silicone glue, or completely cover them with sparkles - for brighter solutions. Put on burlap, tie the neckline with twine or jute thread - for classic

Use unusual tin boxes to make a great souvenir or gift

The emptiness inside can also be supplemented with a composition of fruits and tassels of berries for a more cheerful mood.

It should turn out magical if you make imitation snow right in the jar. We place spruce branches, sprinkle them generously with coarse salt and semolina - we get a kind of snowdrift.

Instead of simply placing a candle in a jar, you can turn the jar itself into one. It is enough to secure the wick: drop paraffin on one end of the cord and release it to the bottom. Wrap the second tip around the tube so that it does not fall.

Pour melted wax. Before the filling hardens, you can place dried flowers inside.

The jar will make luxurious homemade lanterns (a knitted “cape” on the jar looks especially cozy). You can hang them on hooks nailed to a fence or block.

Tin

The dot pattern in the light creates an interesting reflection effect.

Tin You can create things of incredible beauty from a tin can. To get homemade candlesticks with perforations like in the photo, you don’t need any special tools or skills. Instructions explaining the steps step by step:

  1. Cut off the tin lid of a tin can of the required diameter.
  2. Preliminarily come up with a design and mark it on the surface (abstract patterns, dot inscriptions). Alternative - take ready-made paper blanks and glue them to tape
  3. Fill the inside tightly with moist soil
  4. You can start decorating: try punching holes along the outline with a nail and hammer. You can use a drill, you need a drill with a diameter equal to the contour of the points
  5. Paint the product using multi-colored spray cans. Apply more than one layer for richer color
  6. Insert and light the candle

The homemade flashlight is ready. It will be an excellent decoration for the holiday table, or can show off on the windowsills.

From the bottle

Bottles can be decorated with paint patterns, and as an option you can add dried flowers for decoration

From a bottle Many people probably have an unnecessary, broken glass vessel - do not rush to throw it away. It will help you create an exclusive lighting option.

You will need two parts that are preserved at the neck and bottom:

  • sand the edges with sandpaper
  • We connect the two elements together (we place the neck upside down) using instant glue

An alternative is to cut a hole at the bottom of a solid bottle and place a hemp model inside. All kinds of wine bottles look quite elegant. There are two ways to make a cut:

  1. We wrap the bottle with a regular rubber band and draw along its line with a glass cutter. Place first in boiling water (leave for 3 minutes), then in ice water
  2. We tie the bottle with a string thoroughly soaked in alcohol. We set it on fire and begin to rotate around its axis. Place in hot and then cold water in the same way. Due to the temperature difference, the place where the burning thread was will split

Crafts made from dark glass (for example, from a beer bottle) look more romantic. This way the light will be dimmer and maintain some twilight.

From a glass

Christmas decoration of candlesticks and glasses

From a glass A glass as a stand can be used in different ways. For example, similar to the methods of decorating a glass jar, you can decorate the surface of the glass with both drawings and decorative beads.

An interesting way is to make something like a table lamp:

  1. Fold a cone out of colored paper or cardboard
  2. cut off the top to make a lampshade
  3. decorate with ribbons, lace, stones or appliqués
  4. place the candle in a glass, string the resulting tenderloin

Dome made from a glass for a polar bear

Be sure to degrease the glass first and rub it until shiny using napkins.

You can also turn the wine glass upside down: a candle will be attached to the flat stem, and figurines, small plants, and small decorative details will be placed under the voluminous bowl. You can create a whole landscape: add Christmas tree decorations, balls, artificial snow. The entire sketch is drawn up on a durable surface (for example, a CD), which is then glued to the glass.

The glass is also decorated with a print of a decorative napkin on top.

A composition of decorative elements will give a magnificent look. You will need to cover the outside of the glass with cinnamon sticks, Christmas tree needles, petals or pebbles. It will look more impressive if you wrap it with ribbon, thin strips of paper, or rope.

The pleasant aroma of cinnamon and subtle flames will give the room a particularly warm mood.

Decorating ideas

Original decoration does not always mean elaborate forms. an elegant decor from simple unpainted clothespins . For a candlestick you will need a set of 20 pieces. The composition will be complemented by a natural tourniquet. The role of the base will be performed by a tin can. First of all, you need to cut the can with a special tin knife. The base of the candlestick should not be high.

The optimal height of the bottom with sides is about 1.5-2 cm. Clothespins are attached tightly to the base of the candlestick. To make the structure stable, it must be tied with a rope. You can decorate a candlestick with marine-style paints using white and blue colors. When the workpiece is dry, you can put a candle inside. However, this design is only suitable for a “floating” candle. High waxes can cause fire to spread to clothespins, which can cause a fire.

Candlestick made from a glass or bottle

Hand-made candlesticks from glasses look very attractive. A glass is actually a ready-made candlestick.

It is enough to simply place a decorative candle in it. Alternatively, you can fill a glass with wax and install a wick to create a unique candle.

You can make a similar candlestick using the bottom of a glass bottle. Bottle candlesticks, unlike their glass counterparts, look more vintage and sophisticated. To make them you need to use cut bottles.
