If you have a small bedroom, you shouldn’t buy a huge bed for the whole room. It's better to take a closer look at the options that will save your space. We present to you 7 non-standard ideas on how to choose a bed for a small bedroom.
This single bed is easily hidden in a partition that divides the room into functional areas. During the day, the sleeping place is absolutely invisible, but at night it is quite comfortable for a healthy sleep.

We'll talk about bedrooms with two separate beds. Usually they are arranged in a nursery for two children, or in a guest room, if there is one. Elderly spouses also often prefer to sleep separately. In our small apartments, due to the lack of free space, bedrooms with separate beds are rare, but in country houses they are a common occurrence. Let's see how you can design the interior of such a room so that two vacationers feel cozy and comfortable in it.
When planning a bedroom with two separate beds, special attention should be paid to the comfort of people relaxing in the room. It must be remembered that each of them should have a personal area where they can put things and a personal lamp, the light from which should not disturb the neighbor.
If two people share one bedroom, each of them should be able to move freely around the room and quietly enter and exit it. Possible trajectories of movement should be calculated before purchasing beds in order to determine their optimal dimensions.
Two beds in one bedroom are most often placed parallel, or at a head-to-head angle. This design is much cozier and is well suited for small narrow rooms, as it saves a lot of usable space, but it is worth remembering that it is mainly suitable for close relatives or children.
Placing two beds in one bedroom parallel to each other is a good option for guest rooms. They can accommodate same-sex guests, or a married couple who, if desired, can easily move the beds together.
In such bedrooms there is usually little space for additional furniture. Therefore, purchasing beds that have built-in drawers may be a good idea. Together with bedside tables, they will help accommodate guests with greater comfort. In addition, the housewife can store bedspreads, blankets, linen, and towels in them. In children's rooms, in addition to home textiles, toys are placed in under-bed drawers.
When choosing wallpaper for a bedroom with two beds, pay attention to vertical stripes or small patterns - they will visually make the ceiling higher, this will help avoid the feeling of congestion in the room. By playing with color you can achieve different visual effects: light shades will make the room more spacious and colder, while dark shades will be smaller and warmer, so the correct color scheme is created based on the dimensions of the room.
Textiles are very important in the interior of any bedroom. For a room with two beds, it is recommended to take identical bedspreads and sets of decorative pillows, so its design will look complete and harmonious. And yet, there are exceptions to every rule, and if you are not afraid to experiment with color, try it, the effect may exceed your expectations.
Decorate your bedroom to your liking to give it your own personality. Don't forget about color accents. Mirrors, paintings and other decorations on the walls, fresh and artificial flowers in pots and vases, and unusual lamps will help here.
Using examples of photographs, we were convinced that creating a cozy and comfortable interior design in a bedroom with two beds is not so difficult; the main thing is to remember that each person vacationing here needs a little more personal space than spouses usually require. I hope this material was interesting and useful for you!
Hello everybody! Choosing a place for a bed is not easy. Especially in small bedrooms. However, if you approach the matter wisely, then even in a modest area you can organize a wonderful sleeping place. This is what we will talk about today.
We will systematize the bed placement options and determine their advantages and disadvantages.
Small bedrooms. How much it? It has happened more than once when search engines for the request “small bedroom” returned examples of rooms, the size of which many would envy. In our secrets on how to visually make a small bedroom larger, we agreed to consider bedrooms with an area of less than 12 square meters to be small.
So let's get started, make yourself comfortable.
No matter how small the room is, try to fit at least the smallest but full bed with a mattress, not a sofa. I am sure that if you want there will always be a place. I will give examples when the size of the bedroom is literally 2-4 square meters, but it is possible to fit a bed there. A healthy back comes first!
How to distribute space
First of all, you should properly delimit the space. After all, everyone in the room should not only have a place for personal belongings, but also a lamp, the light from which will not disturb the neighbor. In the case of small children, everything is quite simple. As a rule, their daily routine is quite similar and they go to bed at the same time, but how to decorate the space for those parents whose children are already teenagers and their age difference reaches 3-4 years? In this case, the ideal option would be a small partition that would clearly separate the room into two zones. In such a room, the sleeping area located further back should be given to the smaller child, and the older one should be placed closer to the exit.
Whatever one may say, the bed is the basis of any bedroom, and when planning the space, you should start from its size. Quite often, beds are placed parallel to each other, leaving a passage of at least 60 cm between them. It is also worth considering that there must be a distance of at least 70 cm between the bed and the wall, otherwise it will be impossible to turn around in such a room.
To save space, the beds can be placed close to opposite walls, and between them can be placed a chest of drawers, a closet or a shelf for personal belongings.
Another optimal option for arranging beds is head to head, and the beds are not placed one behind the other, but at an angle, leaving between them a small space for a table or cabinet with a top opening, in which children can hide their toys. This distribution of space is perfect for small narrow rooms, since this arrangement saves quite a large amount of space. However, it is worth considering that it is not at all acceptable in a guest room.
How to arrange 2 single beds in a small room: life hacks and designer tips
Installing two single beds in a small bedroom is a challenging task. But the right arrangement of furniture can make a room a haven for the people sharing it. Experienced designers tell you how best to arrange two beds in a room based on shape and size!
Step One: Measuring the Room and Making a Plan
The first thing you need to do is sketch out the floor plan of your room. Add doors and windows to the diagram, taking into account the direction in which they open, all arches and niches. If you put the lamps in the room on your sketch, you will be able to organize the furniture more competently. Consider the presence of cabinets and chests of drawers. Pay attention to how big the doorway is so you know how large a piece you can fit in your space. Mark where the vents are in the room, if there are any, so you don't block them with furniture.
After this, sketch each wall on a separate sheet of paper. This means you can mark the position of things such as windows, radiators, electrical sockets, vents and any other objects that cannot be moved and would interfere with the placement of two beds.
Step two: add dimensions
Measure the distance between every fixed point in the room. Be sure to measure the distance from the doorway to the corner of the room, from the corner of the room to the window, and so on. Pick a starting point and work clockwise from there so you don't miss anything. Try to measure both the height of the room and all vertical distances. This will be quite useful, because you may want to put one bunk bed instead of two single beds. Transfer all data onto a paper diagram.
Step three: draw the furniture
Now we need to draw the location of all the current furniture on our sketch. If you have chests of drawers, cabinets and a desk in your room, measure them and the space between them and be sure to reflect them in the sketch. This will prevent any complications when installing two beds in the bedroom.
A standard bed measures 99 by 188 cm. This is the minimum size in which a person can still be comfortable. The minimum size of the room in which you can comfortably place two single beds is 3x4 meters.
Step four: choosing two single beds
Buy or make your own corner unit with two single beds with storage drawers. With this design, you can get the same amount of storage space—and two larger beds. This is a single "L" shaped unit that fits nicely into a corner.
This option will allow each person in the room to have their own space and storage underneath. The advantage of such beds is that they allow you to make maximum use of space in even the smallest room.
In addition, this configuration will give you a large free floor area, because the furniture will be moved close to the wall.
Install a bunk bed with two sleeping places. However, before you do this, you must make sure that the height of your room is enough to accommodate such furniture. Most bunk beds have dimensions of 170x110x200 centimeters, and therefore you must first make sure that your children will be comfortable getting up and lying down on this bed. This option allows you to save a lot of space and looks quite interesting.
Create a podium or tall legs under each bed. If you choose regular single beds, make a podium under each of them - just raise these pieces of furniture by 50-60 centimeters to get storage space. Under the beds you can store seasonal clothes that are not in use, bedding and other things. This will free up space in closets and chests of drawers.
Another great option is a loft bed. There will be a table on the first tier, and a sleeping place on the second. You can install two of these beds, providing each child with a separate sleeping place and their own area for games, homework, reading corner or storage. By the way, instead of one of the tables, you can choose the option of a loft bed with a sofa and a cabinet. This setting is best for older children and teenagers.
Step Five: Decide Where Exactly You Will Place the Furniture
Based on the size and shape of the bed in your bedroom, you need to arrange your beds in such a way as to get the most out of your space. For example, in a square room you can place the beds parallel to each other. In a long and narrow bedroom, beds should be placed along the wall, because such a room is better suited for the proportions of two single beds than a square one. If your room is L-shaped, place the beds at opposite ends to give each person their own personal space.
Helpful tip: In a square room, use the space between the beds to place a desk, bedside tables, and on the other side of the room, opposite the bed, you can place a chest of drawers or a wardrobe.
In a long room, add a small desk, chest of drawers, bookshelf or closet between the beds to create a sense of privacy for each child. Place two dressers next to each other against the longest wall of an L-shaped room, and desks can be placed next to each bed. Make sure you have enough room to walk, open doors, and make the bed.
Step Six: Add Storage
If you use the space under your bed for storage, your room will be less cluttered. Install baskets and drawers at the foot of each bed so that children can store toys and books there, put benches for storage that will take up very little space, but at the same time you can store things inside.
By the way, you can also consider this option as storing it at the head of the bed. To do this, you just need to place boxes or baskets there. Wall shelving above the bed also increases storage space.
Step seven: add other furniture
Next to the beds you can place a cabinet that will serve as a table. Take advantage of its surface area to store bedside essentials. Amenities required for children in the bedroom include a desk with a small lamp, a stationery stand, and a computer or laptop. By the way, your desk must have drawers designed to store chargers and other items.
Step 8: Use Wall Space
If after placing the bed in the room there is no space left for a chest of drawers or a large wardrobe, you can always get creative in the process of placing and storing clothes. Install a rod or two, or use shelves or benches for storage that you can install along the wall. You can also find space for shoes, bedding, towels and clothes. One of the different ways to use wall space is to install shelves with racks attached directly to the wall, so you can hang clothes on hangers while putting everything else on the shelf.

Rectangular children's room for two
Furniture arrangement in the nursery: exploring all possible options for rectangular rooms. How to rationally organize a nursery for two children in a house with a standard layout?
Most often in standard series houses there are rectangular rooms. They differ only in area and location of doors and windows. We decided to look at all possible options for arranging furniture in a nursery in apartments of standard series.
The arrangement of furniture in the children's room is carried out according to the rules of ergonomics. Our consultant was Anush Arakelyan, a graduate of the International School of Design. We asked the decorator to draw possible layout options for a rectangular room for two children. We took as a basis the minimum amount of furniture that every child needs - a bed, a desk and a closet for storing clothes and books.
P-44 series
A rectangular room in which the door is located opposite the window is perhaps one of the most convenient options for a child’s room - there is a long wall along which you can place two beds, space for storage systems and desks.
It is better to place the workplace next to the window, in the brightest place in the room. Single beds can be placed either along one wall or opposite each other.

P-43 series
In the case where a rectangular children's room is also a walk-through, and there are two doors leading into it, the room can be zoned either by function - a recreation area and a work area, or each child can be allocated their own part of the room.
In the first case, we place desks near the window, and beds along the long wall. In the second case, we place the bed and table of one of the children closer to the window, and with the second table we visually separate the area for the other child.
I-700a series
In the case where the door is on a long wall, there are also two options for ergonomic placement of beds - along the wall or opposite each other.
The convenience of this layout is that the wall opposite the window can be used for organizing storage systems. If necessary, they can be replaced with a Swedish wall.
Series I-155
When there are two doors in a room, children may feel uncomfortable. It is better if the entrance to the room is visible from the bed, that is, the sleeping place is located perpendicular to the door.
series 1605/12
A rectangular room with two windows seems to be created for a nursery - you can place a desk near each of them and be sure that there is enough light for each of the children.
In this case, it is convenient to place the beds next to the tables. The remaining free walls are allocated for storage systems.
The arrangement of furniture in a children's room is closely related to the lighting of the space. After all, in addition to general light, the room needs nightlights above the bed and lamps by the table.
The cable exit points are laid at the stage of major repairs, i.e. Even then you should understand exactly how the bed should be positioned and where the desk will be located. Place switches so that the child can operate them himself.

Basic principles of small room design
Before starting work, you should draw a drawing or visually imagine the future space. The room is arranged in accordance with its purpose, and for the needs of the family it will be necessary to introduce working, sleeping and guest areas.
Arrange the room according to its purpose
The following will help to visually expand the space and smooth out the boundaries of the room:
- Light colors in the interior;
- Mirror surfaces (on walls or cabinets);
- Arrangement of furniture along the walls;
- Refuse bulky furniture and interior elements that clutter up the space;
- Use glossy surfaces that create a volume effect;
- Adhere to varieties of minimalist style;
- Bright color contrasts and color zoning.
Arranging furniture along the walls
Optimal sleeping arrangements
Most often, a design involving the arrangement of two beds is developed for the arrangement of children's rooms, bedrooms and guest rooms. Each option has its own characteristics and depends on the size of the home.
Option #1
The basis of this method of arranging beds in a room is symmetry. The living space should be quite spacious, since it will be necessary to place not only two bedside tables next to the sleeping places, but also two sconces, as well as a couple of armchairs (chairs). The parallel arrangement of beds is best suited for guest rooms. This option allows you to host guests of the same sex and married couples.
If you use this method of arranging beds in a children's room designed for two teenage girls, then the result of your efforts can be a very stylish interior. To decorate such a room, you need to stock up on the same bed linen, blankets, mirrors and other accessories that must be present in a teenager’s room.
Option No. 2
A good solution is the angular arrangement of sleeping places according to the “head to head” principle. This option is ideal for small rooms, as it saves usable space. However, it is recommended to be used only when placing immediate family members and children. It should be remembered that if at some point you want more autonomy, the head of the bed can be moved to the opposite side.
Option #3
In this case, the bedroom furniture, as in the previous version, is placed in the shape of the letter “L”, however, a free corner is left between the beds, which can be used to store all kinds of things. This is a worthy alternative to a bedside table - you can equip several shelves for books and useful items. The lower part of the space behind the beds can become a place to store boxes of necessary items.
Bed design
To make the room look complete and unified, it is advisable to choose beds whose design will match. If they are intended for two spouses, then they can be completely identical in appearance, this option will be the most optimal. This decision will be correct even if there are two children living in the room, but of the same gender and approximately the same age.
If the owners of the room are children of different sexes and ages, or family members from different generations, then it is advisable to purchase two different beds, taking into account the preferences and requirements of each of the neighbors. They may vary in both color and design.
The decoration of a room with two beds, in principle, can be done in any way, but it must meet the requirements and preferences of each bedroom owner, so the design should be thought out taking them into account. It is entirely possible to combine different materials, which will not only satisfy both occupants of the room, but also define zones.
Zoning
Dividing the bedroom into zones is appropriate if each of its occupants needs space and their own workspace. It is best to place the furniture of the room owners on two opposite sides so that the personal areas do not intersect in any way. If the area allows, then you can install a partition that will make staying in the room as comfortable as possible for both neighbors, and will also divide the bedroom into two, and full-fledged ones. This option is appropriate if the owners of the room are children of different sexes and different ages, or family members belonging to different generations. If installing a permanent structure is difficult, then try replacing it with a more mobile and lightweight screen (it can be removed if desired).
If the owners are spouses, then division into zones is not necessary, because, for example, things may well be stored in one large closet, but, of course, on different shelves. The workplace can also be unified, as well as the area intended for relaxation.
You can ensure full zoning without the use of partitions by using different finishing materials to decorate your bedroom. The color scheme, texture or design may be different.
