A Welsh playground is filled with... rubbish, just as Danish architect Carl Theodor Sorensen did back in 1930. Here children can have a blast and climb trees, build underground passages and even make fires. The idea is that these "adventure spots" allow children to learn to take risks and cooperate with each other.

Video description

How to make a tree house is shown in this video:

Building a tree house is practically no different from building a regular house. First, large elements are installed and fastened, then smaller ones. They start with the floor and end with the roof. Preliminary assembly of parts is carried out on the ground, direct fastening is already on the tree. In order for the structure to last as long as possible, the boards must be lubricated with a special antiseptic to protect them from rotting.

The fundamental element of a treehouse is the staircase. To make it as fun as possible for children to enter and leave the house, you can build a pole for descent, install a rope or a slide.

Obstacle course

In order for a child to be able to combine gaming and sports activities, to fully grow and develop, the playground in a private home must be equipped with an obstacle course.

You can make it yourself from scrap materials - for example, old car tires. Many people do this - they dig several tires edgewise into the ground at different heights, thereby getting a combination of descents and ascents.

Also, a children's playground made of logs will be successfully complemented by a structure made of swinging tires. Chains can be replaced with strong ropes.

You can use garden hoses to make shapes that children can jump over or climb under, performing simple tasks that test their ingenuity and ingenuity. A labyrinth constructed from wooden blocks and crossbars would also be a successful addition.

Choosing a place on a summer cottage

Firstly, after choosing a place for a playground, you need to make sure that it is safe for the health and life of the child.

Generally speaking, it is better to make such a site in a place that can be seen through the window of the house.

This idea will make it possible to save your nerves and especially protect your child from unpredictable situations.

Be sure to pay attention to the materials and objects located nearby - there should be no electrical wiring, no communications, no bodies of water nearby.

Also, the children's area should be well lit at night. Build a small shelter where the child can hide from the sun.

What should be on the playground

If you have small children, then, of course, you need a sandbox; they love to poke around in the ground. It can be done in different ways, but the basic principles remain:

  • The top layer of soil is cut off and leveled.
  • To drain the water, you need to make a slope in the middle; a meter-long hole is made in the center of the sandbox and a tube is inserted, which is filled with crushed stone. All this is necessary so that after rain the moisture leaves and puddles do not form in the sandbox.

To fence a children's corner at the dacha, you can use different materials: these are pegs that can be made in the form of pencils, and stumps on which you can jump, or you can dig in tires, and so on - the choice is wide, it all depends on your imagination and skill.

Children will be happy if their parents set up a swing for them; this is the second thing they love very much after the sandbox. You can buy a swing, or you can make it yourself; to do this, two pillars are dug into the ground, and they are connected on top with a crowbar. After this, you can hang the swing on a rope. The main thing is that the structure is strong and well dug in so that the swing does not fall along with the child.

The swing can be not only on a rope, but also on chains, it will be stronger, and the seat can be a wooden board, processed and painted, or a tire, or even a log - it all depends on your imagination.

You can put a horizontal bar, it is very useful, and the energy will splash out when the children climb and hang on it. It would be nice to install a slide, now there is quite a large selection of them, so you can choose any size, color, curved or straight, wooden or iron, and maybe even plastic.

In summer, children are especially active. And this sometimes prevents parents from going about their business. To keep your child busy and out of the way, you can install a sandbox on your property.

Children love to play in the sand. Plus it develops hand motor skills, imagination and tactile sensations. And building a sandbox with your own hands does not seem difficult for any parent.

The standard sandbox shape is a square. The side of this square is approximately 1.5 meters. To build a sandbox, you will need boards approximately 40 cm wide. To ensure that the shape of the sandbox is strictly square, you should use corners. For comfortable play in the sandbox, the child needs seats. It is enough to attach several boards to the frame, securing them with corners.

For safety reasons, it is necessary to treat the frame boards with sandpaper and a plane. This will reduce the chance of getting splinters for both children and adults. Also, you need to cover the sandbox frame with a solution against parasites and rot. Only after this can you start painting.

Let's look at the construction of a sandbox in more detail. The frame of the sandbox should be dug 10 cm into the ground. Also, you should select a place for the sandbox in advance. It should not be in the open air or in a lowland. If the sandbox is located in the sun, then there is a high probability of getting sunstroke, which is not good. And on the hill, moisture will not accumulate after rains, and your child will be able to continue playing in the sand as soon as possible. It is also recommended to take into account that the wind does not blow strongly at the site of the future sandbox.

Playgrounds where children are not bored

August 7, 2021

What should a good playground be like? So that a child with sparkling eyes would play on it day after day? It should challenge, be non-obvious, involve imagination and force you to fill in the details. Today it is a dangerous adventure, and tomorrow it is a lounger for a relaxing pastime.

Bright, but manufactured in accordance with safety requirements, standard plastic slides and swings cannot replace the pleasure of bungee riding on a sunny day, climbing trees and garages, swings in the sun and dizzying carousels.

There are few places in the world where the unlimited joy of childhood is possible. Here are some of the coolest playgrounds from around the world.

Belleville Playground, Paris

Landscape Architecture: BASE (Build A Super Environment)

In Belleville Park in Paris, architects from the BASE bureau created a multi-level playground for children on a hillside. Working with the wishes of local residents, BASE identified risk as their main goal. Therefore, when children see the playground, their eyes light up: here they can overcome difficulties and be who they want to be.

The design is based on a concrete climbing wall for different age groups, but children find adventure here: a magical mountain, medieval fortifications, a flying carpet or a pirate ship. Children have many options for playing with this space and never know exactly where it will lead.

This is how a dream playground is created: dangerous and unpredictable in the eyes of children, but at the same time meeting all safety requirements.

The Rampart Wave, Parc Blancan , Lyon

Landscape Architecture: BASE (Build A Super Environment)

In 2014, BASE created another playground in Lyon, based on the concept of risk. It appeared in Blandan Park, in the old barracks from 1830, famous for its history: in the 19th century, a great French battle took place here.

On the opening day, the wooden wall, 50 meters long and 7 meters high, caused play hysteria not only among children, but also among their parents. The playground was literally attacked by overexcited children aged 4 to 12 years. BASE developed such a complex site plan that no one could figure out where the hidden passages led and which niches led to the entrances.

Here children can climb, hide, run, create goals and adventures for themselves, interact with each other and even learn history.

Knitted playground, Japan

Designer: Toshiko Horiuchi Macadama

In Japan, there is a children's playground hand-knitted from thick yarn by artist Toshiko Horiuchi Makadama. It is located in the Hakone Open Air Museum, located in one of Japan's most visited tourist spots. Bright colors attract children from afar, and the movable knitting makes the structure look like a colorful trampoline with holes through which you can climb.

Children here crawl, swing and jump on a bright mesh, disappear into “nests” and use their own imagination. Here you can rock, as if in a cradle, remembering the mother’s womb or mother’s embrace, or you can jump high, high and come up with dangerous adventures. In this case, each of the playing children influences the overall movement of the grid.

The idea of such a space came to the artist at the opening of her knitted work of art. She saw children frolicking on her art piece, swinging and stretching it, and realized that this was the best use for it. After that, she began knitting for children using twisted nylon thread.

Toshiko knitted the playground in Hakone for a whole year, using 650 kilograms of nylon threads. It is supported on a wooden frame 26 meters long and 20 meters wide, assembled without a single nail using ancient technology. Wood, threads and no plastic - that was her concept.

Game tower at the Swarovski Museum, Innsbruck, Norway

Design: Snøhetta architectural bureau

You can also visit the Swarovski Museum in Innsbruck for the children's play area. It is modern, bright and will make even the lazy person move.

The four-story transparent tower features mini trampolines, bungee-like rope swings and a 14-meter-tall rope net to climb on. Glass walls add a sense of risk and fill the area with daylight.

Outside, Snøhetta architects designed an additional outdoor play area with slides, secret nooks and unusual shapes.

Adventure Playground , Belgium

Architecture: Carve and OMGEVING bureaus

In a former mining town, a brutal children's playground has appeared on a 60-meter-high mound of rubble. There are no bright colors or cute children's structures, but children love to play here. They love to climb a gray concrete wall, slide down a high slide, hide in windows, climb ropes and sneak between wooden posts.

The site is made in a restrained miner's style, and the wooden pillars are reminiscent of the pillars that supported the arches of the mines.

Conclusion

Playgrounds where kids can get high, spin fast, and get into trouble aren't just more fun—they're better for kids' development.

It’s not enough to just install a swing, a sandbox and a slide. Such designs are too obvious in their purpose and therefore can quickly become boring.

New playgrounds are being created to be abstract and multifunctional. Children use their imagination and can imagine a castle or a spaceship in place of a wooden structure. Such platforms seem to say: communicate with each other, interact, play in a new way every day.

Playground

Your child will have real fun on the playground. Here you can place sports equipment and exercise equipment. Don’t forget to ask your child and he will tell you about his hobbies. You can hang garlands in the house; they will glow in the evening and help create the illusion of a fairy tale.

If your child loves an active lifestyle, then on his territory there must be parallel bars, a wall bars, a horizontal bar and much more. A basketball hoop wouldn't be amiss. The child will be able to play ball and invite his friends.

You can make a ring and hang a punching bag. Decorating a playground will not take much time. But this process should be approached creatively. Use your imagination, because even simple objects can look unusual in space.
