During the operation of a double-circuit gas boiler, each user will encounter certain problems associated with the operation of the hot water supply circuit. These problems are inevitable. They always appear, regardless of the manufacturer of the boiler and its heat exchanger, or the design features of the boiler; it does not matter whether the boiler is wall-mounted or floor-standing. Often the boiler begins to heat hot water poorly or not heat it at all. Especially when you use several points at the same time. In this article we will talk about how to get rid of this problem forever.
Gas pressure at the entrance to the house has decreased
A gas boiler may not reach temperature due to low gas pressure. Typically, a sensor is installed at the entrance to the boiler to measure pressure. First of all, its indicators are checked to make sure of this malfunction.
Also read with this article: What to do if the pressure in the gas boiler increases
Modern heating equipment is often equipped with a pressure reducer. Adjusting the values on it helps solve the problem described. For private houses with one or two floors, the optimal value is from 1.5 to 2 atmospheres. In houses with more than two floors, the gas pressure should be in the range from 2 to 4 atmospheres.
ATTENTION. Any boiler adjustment requires a careful approach with preliminary study of the instructions. Gas is a dangerous flammable component that can lead to explosions and fires if consumed incorrectly. If you doubt your own abilities, contact a company that services gas installations.
Either cold or hot water comes from the boiler
For heating and hot water supply of apartments and small private houses with one bathroom, double-circuit gas boilers are usually used. The owners of such boilers are often faced with the fact that either cold or hot water flows from the tap. As people say, the boiler clocks, the boiler's DHW mode periodically turns off and then turns on again.
The principles of adjustment and adjustment of the hot water supply system described in this article are suitable for double-circuit gas boilers of many brands and manufacturers, as well as gas hot water heaters.
Why is there either cold or hot water coming from the boiler?
A double-circuit gas boiler in hot water supply (DHW) mode operates at maximum power. For example, the operating manual for the Protherm Gepard 23 MTV boiler states that with factory settings for a maximum power of 23.3 kW, the boiler provides water heating for a temperature difference of dT = 30 °C, with a maximum hot water flow of 11.1 l/min.
The design of modern faucets is made taking into account the need to save water. For example, in a house connected to a central water supply, the following results of measuring the maximum water flow were obtained: through the shower screen 6 l/min, washbasin horn 4 l/min, in the kitchen sink 5 l/min.
Usually, in order to save money, users do not open the water taps to full flow. In addition, to obtain a comfortable temperature, hot water is always mixed with cold.
The boiler burner in DHW mode turns on at a water flow of 1.5 l/min. Switches off at 1.1 l/min. This hysteresis is a protection against periodic switching on/off of the burner when the flow rate fluctuates.
Taking these factors into account, the actual amount of water that the boiler should heat in a minute will be approximately 1.1-4 l/min.
Obviously, the difference between the factory setting of the maximum boiler power, designed to heat 11.1 liters per minute, and the power required to heat the actual flow at the tap, will be significant. The power of the boiler burner is controlled automatically within certain limits. But the huge difference between the maximum power and the power spent on heating the actual water flow leads to the fact that the boiler automation is not able to bring the boiler power in line with the needs of the domestic hot water system without additional settings.
A large excess of the factory-set maximum power of a gas boiler in DHW mode over the power required to heat hot water in users' water taps leads to cyclicity (clocking) of hot water heating. The boiler burner in DHW mode periodically turns on and goes off. Accordingly, either cold or hot water comes out of the tap.
Setting and adjusting the temperature of hot water in the DHW system
Diagram of heating tap water with a double-circuit gas boiler depending on temperature (T oC) and flow rate (Q l/min) of hot water.
Work area - boundaries are shown with a thick line. Gray zone, position 1 - boiler clock zone (switching between ON/OFF). For normal heating of water by the boiler, in the diagram the point of intersection of the temperature and hot water flow lines (operating point) must always be located inside the working area, the boundaries of which are shown in the diagram with a thick line.
If the hot water consumption mode is selected so that the operating point is in the gray zone, pos. 1 on the diagram, then the boiler will clock.
The diagram shows that the boiler does not operate in the gray zone; to eliminate clocking at low water consumption, it is better to set the water heating temperature to a maximum of 60 °C.
As mentioned above, there is no need to prepare large streams of hot water in the house. It is much more important to ensure comfortable use of hot water with low consumption. For this purpose, the work area on the diagram must be moved to the left. This can be done by reducing the maximum power of the boiler burner by reducing the gas supply by adjusting the gas valve.
How not to fight clocking
Some “experts” advise setting the hot water temperature lower, no more than 50 °C, in order not to dilute the water in the mixer when dispensing water, and opening the taps to full flow. Thus, they propose to get rid of clocking, increasing the flow of heated water to the maximum. In many cases, this actually helps, as the water flow and temperature fall into the work area on the diagram.
I don’t recommend doing this in DHW systems with a double-circuit boiler or a gas water heater, and here’s why. With this method, you have to consume much more water, and therefore gas, than is necessary. In addition, the need to always keep a large flow of water from the tap, the inability to regulate the water temperature - all this creates discomfort in using hot water.
In addition, the display of a double-circuit boiler does not show the temperature of the hot water leaving the boiler, but the temperature of the heating water leaving the primary circuit of the DHW heat exchanger (return temperature from the DHW heat exchanger).
In systems with a double-circuit boiler, the automation maintains a constant temperature of heating water at the outlet of the primary circuit of the DHW heat exchanger (return temperature from the DHW heat exchanger), and the temperature of hot water at the outlet of the secondary circuit of the DHW heat exchanger is not regulated.
The temperature of the hot water leaving the boiler will be whatever it will be, depending on the degree of opening of the water tap, the temperature of the water in the water supply, and the thickness of the scale layer. That is, every time you open the water tap, the temperature of the hot water will be different.
Therefore, the required temperature of hot water leaving the boiler cannot be preset on the display. If you set the temperature of the heating water on the display, for example 50 oC, then the temperature of the hot water from the tap will always be less, and less each time differently.
In a DHW system with a double-circuit boiler, it is more convenient to regulate the water temperature directly at the tap at the time of disassembly, mixing it with cold water in a mixer. For this to be possible, it is necessary to have some reserve in the temperature of the water leaving the boiler.
For comfortable use of hot water from a double-circuit boiler, be sure to adjust and set on the display in DHW mode the maximum temperature of 60 ° C.
Setting the maximum power of the boiler burner in DHW mode
In order for the boiler in DHW mode to heat the water evenly and not cycle even at minimum water consumption, it is necessary to reduce the maximum burner power by reducing the gas supply by adjusting the gas valve. Thus, the entire work area in the diagram will move to the left.
As a result of adjusting the gas valve, there will be no signs of burner clocking in DHW mode when the hot water flow rate changes over the entire range, from the maximum (6 l/min) to the minimum specified in the instructions (1.1 l/min). The temperature of hot water can be adjusted with a mixer, changing the water flow and mixing it with cold water within limited, but quite comfortable limits.
Setting up, adjusting the SIT gas valve
Gas valve SIT.
Gas valve SIT. 1 - gas pressure measuring fitting at the valve outlet, in front of the burner; 2 — adjusting nut for maximum gas flow; 3 — adjusting screw for minimum gas flow; 4 — cover of the adjusting device; 5 - gas pressure measuring fitting at the valve inlet in the gas network.
Manufacturers of double-circuit gas boilers of many brands install a gas valve from the Italian company SIT on their boilers. The maximum and minimum power settings of the boiler burner are made by rotating the adjusting screws located on the valve body.
Adjusting the gas pressure in front of the burner in DHW mode:
On the boiler display, the hot water temperature must be set to 60 °C. (read about setting the DHW temperature above).
Remove the cover of the adjusting device (item 4 in the figure).
Turn on the DHW mode on the boiler by opening the hot water tap to full flow with maximum water flow.
Adjust (reduce) the gas pressure in front of the burner using the maximum gas flow adjustment screw (item 2). When turning to the right, the gas supply increases,
and when rotated to the left, it decreases. Visually observe the height of the flame in the boiler burner. The purpose of the adjustment is to reduce the gas supply to the burner so that the burner operates continuously and the temperature of the hot water from the tap remains constant and comfortable.
We control the gas pressure in the network
The gas pressure in the gas network may drop below that permissible for boiler operation. It is necessary to periodically monitor the pressure, especially in cold weather, when gas flow in the network is maximum.
At the boiler inlet, static and dynamic pressure are measured. Static pressure is when the boiler does not consume gas. Dynamic pressure is measured at maximum gas flow by the boiler.
The pressure in the gas network at the gas valve inlet is measured by connecting a U-shaped pressure gauge tube to fitting pos.5. To measure dynamic pressure, open the hot water tap to full flow.
The normal dynamic gas pressure at the gas valve inlet should be in the range of 1.3 - 2.5 kPa (13 - 25 mbar or 132 - 255 mm water column). If during measurement the dynamic pressure value falls outside the specified limits, then you must contact the gas service.
How to measure the gas inlet pressure and adjust the minimum and maximum gas pressure at the outlet of the SIT gas valve, see this video.
Cycling in DHW mode is eliminated by reducing the maximum pressure. To do this, rotate the adjusting nut counterclockwise.
U-shaped pressure gauge
A simple pressure gauge for measuring a gas valve can be made from a clear plastic tube, filled with water and bent into a U shape. One end of the tube is placed over the valve fitting and the other is left open. A ruler is used to measure the difference in water levels in the branches of the tube. The measured distance will be equal to the pressure in millimeters of water column - mm.water column.
A tube with an internal diameter of 8 mm can be tightly pulled onto the gas valve fitting. For a tube of a different diameter you will have to select an adapter.
At the end of the measurements, do not forget to carefully tighten the shut-off screw on the measuring fitting and check its tightness.
Adjustment, adjustment of the Honeywell gas valve
Gas valve Honeywell gas boiler.
The yellow connector with wires is installed on the stepper motor. Some modern boilers, such as Protherm Gepard and Protherm Panther, have Honeywell gas valves.
The gas pressure setting at the outlet of the Honeywell gas valve is changed using a stepper motor. The gas valve stepper motor is controlled from the boiler control panel through the service menu.
Let's look at setting up a gas valve with a stepper motor through the service menu using the example of gas boilers Protherm Gepard and Protherm Panther.
Access to the service menu of the Protherm boiler
The electromechanical devices of the boiler (electric valves, stepper and conventional electric motors, sensors) are controlled by a microprocessor of the electronic control board in accordance with the programmed program.
The boiler operating program settings can be changed on the control panel using two menus - a public user menu and a hidden service menu.
Access to the service menu of the Gepard boiler
The Protherm Gepard boiler is controlled from the control panel through a publicly accessible user menu. How the owner can operate the boiler is described in the operating manual.
On the control panel you can call up another, hidden menu - a service menu intended for specialists. The service menu becomes available on the display screen after entering the code.
Press and hold the mode button (1) for about 7 seconds; the display will change - the number 0 will appear. - Using the + or - buttons (2), enter the code, number 35. - Confirm the code entry by pressing the mode button (1).
After this, the display will show the 1st line of the menu in the form of symbols alternating on the screen: d. 0.
— Using the + or — buttons (2), enter the number with the required menu line number: d.**.
To change the value of a parameter in the menu bar: - Press the “mode” button to move from the menu line number “d.**” to the parameter value (the display alternates between the “=” symbol and the parameter value). — Change the values of the displayed parameters using the + or — buttons (3) on the boiler panel. — 3 seconds after the change, the new values are automatically confirmed.
To return the display to its original state, press the “mode” button for 3 seconds. After 15 minutes of inactivity, the display returns to operating mode on its own.
Access to the service menu of the Panther boiler
The control panel of the Protherm Panther boiler has some differences from the Protherm Gepard boiler. The boiler control panel has a hidden service menu, which becomes accessible when the code is entered.
Boiler control panel Protherm Panther (Panther)
To access the service menu of the Protherm Panther boiler, you must: Press and hold the mode button (1) for about 7 seconds; The display appearance will change.
— Using the buttons on the left + or — (2), enter the access code to the service menu — number 35 in the left half of the display.
— Confirm entering the code by pressing the mode button (1).
After this, the display will display the 1st menu line in the form of symbols d.00 with the menu line number in the left half of the display, and the numerical value of the line parameter in the right half of the display. — Using the buttons on the left + or — (2), enter the number with the required menu line number: d.**.
To change the value of a parameter in the menu bar: - Change the values of the displayed parameters in the line using the buttons on the right + or - (3) on the boiler panel. — 3 seconds after the change, the new values are automatically confirmed.
To return the display to its original state, press the “mode” button for 3 seconds. After 15 minutes of inactivity, the display returns to operating mode on its own.
The service menu commands and the procedure for setting the power of the Protherm Panther boiler are similar to those given for the Protherm Gepard boiler.
Description of some service menu commands
Line d.36 - shows on the display the hot water consumption measured by the flow sensor, l/min. when dispensing hot water (read only).
Let's determine the consumption of hot water in our apartment (in the house). Line d.36 of the service menu shows on the display the hot water flow measured by the flow sensor, l/min. We display line parameter d.36 on the display, then open the hot water taps in the apartment (in the house) one by one to full flow and record the water consumption readings from the display.
Line d.53 - setting the maximum power of the boiler burner by shifting the maximum position of the Honeywell gas valve stepper motor. The range of possible parameter values is from =0 to =-99 (negative values with a minus sign). The lower the parameter value, the weaker the intensity of gas combustion.
Line d.88 - Protection against water hammer in cold water distribution (for KTV and KOV boilers). The ability to change the parameter eliminates the reaction to water hammer, which in some cases occurs in cold water pipelines. For example, when the automatic valve in the flush cistern of a toilet (or washing machine, or dishwasher) closes, a pressure surge (water hammer) may occur in the water supply pipes. The consequence of this may be a false activation of the flow sensor (turbine) of tap water, which will lead to a short-term unwanted activation of the boiler’s DHW mode. Factory setting 0 = activation of the ignition process for heating tap water at a flow rate of 1.5 l/min. Changing the parameter to value 1 = activation of the ignition process for heating tap water at a flow rate of 3.7 l/min. In this case, the flow duration should be at least 2 seconds.
Line d.96 - Setting the boiler to the parameters set from production. If the settings lead to incorrect operation or failures, it is possible to restore the boiler to factory settings. Setting: 0—replacement with factory settings will not be performed; 1 - will be returned to factory settings Note: when entering the setting of this parameter, the display always shows parameter “0”.
Setting, adjusting the maximum power of a boiler with a Honeywell gas valve
The boiler manufacturer Protherm Gepard (Panther) installs the SIT 845 Sigma gas valve on some versions of the boilers, instead of the Honeywell gas valve. The setting of this valve is described above. In the service menu of Protherm boilers with a SIT valve, lines d.52 and d.53 are missing.
To adjust the gas valve, the boiler operation is switched to DHW mode. To do this, we open the hot water tap with maximum flow to full passage; in our example, this is the tap for the shower screen.
In the service menu, select line d.53, press the “mode” button and see on the display the value of the gas valve stepper motor position parameter in maximum power mode. For example, on a new boiler, the factory setting of the maximum power parameter in line d.53 was = -17 and the burner was clocked in DHW mode.
We carry out experiments - set the almost minimum value of the parameter in line d.53 = -90 and check the result. The clocking should stop, but the temperature of the water from the tap may not suit us. Then we increase the parameter in line d.53 = -80 (-80 is greater than -90) and observe an increase in the temperature of the water in the tap. So, step by step, we increase the parameter in line d.53 until we achieve the required temperature of the tap water.
By increasing the parameter in line d.53, you can achieve the result that the boiler begins to cycle and the temperature of the hot water in the tap remains low. In this case, as a rule, it is necessary to clean the DHW heat exchanger from scale.
For example, on a new boiler, the temperature of hot water in the tap reached 55 oC, after setting parameter = - 90 in line d.53 (remember, the factory setting was = -17). There were no signs of burner clocking in DHW mode when the flow rate varied over the entire range, from the maximum (6 l/min) to the minimum specified in the instructions (1.1 l/min). The temperature of hot water can be adjusted with a mixer, changing the water flow and mixing it with cold water within limited, but quite comfortable limits.

The insertion was carried out poorly: the diameter does not match or there are narrowings in the gas pipeline
A common reason for a complaint that a gas boiler in a house does not heat well is poor-quality connection of heating equipment to the general gas supply system (gas pipeline).
Often, gas service workers weld an additional thread, screw a tap onto it and drill a small hole where the thread joins the gas pipe. The diameter of such a hole is much smaller than the diameter of the pipe, which leads to a drop in pressure. As a result, the gas boiler does not heat hot water well.
Correct connection requires compliance with certain rules and takes more time. Therefore, negligence occurs frequently.
You can determine this reason in the following way:
- there is a sharp decrease in the flame after ignition of the boiler;
- stops gaining temperature, or the flame goes out on its own.
Special calculators are used to calculate the required diameter of pipes in a particular room. The power of the boiler requires a larger volume of gas supply, therefore it is necessary to use pipes with a larger diameter. Before connecting the boiler to the gas pipeline, you must call a qualified specialist who will calculate the required diameter for the pipes, taking into account the characteristics of the room and the power of the boiler.
The following factors influence the choice of a larger cross-section in the connected pipes:
- low pressure requires connection to pipes with a large diameter;
- boiler power and room area affect the diameter;
- the longer the system, the larger the cross-section must be used;
- a reserve in diameter is necessary when there are many turns in the system (gas flow slows down at turns);
- number of consumed points;
- the required room heating temperature with the water heating temperature for domestic use;
- what pump is installed in the boiler.
Boiler placement
After determining the appropriate fuel for the boiler, you need to think about the immediate placement of the device. Wall-mounted boilers are the most compact and convenient, but such boilers do not have enough power to cover large rooms. In the latter case, a so-called floor-standing boiler is more suitable.
In cases where it is necessary to heat a house and heat water at the same time, you need to keep in mind that double-circuit heating boilers can cover a room with a total area of no more than 190 square meters. If a private house has a large footage, then it is more advisable to use a single-circuit type boiler in conjunction with a boiler.
How to choose exactly the right boiler? You need to be guided by a small rule - the best heating equipment is not produced here. It is better to buy boilers from Germany and France. But these are not all countries. Reliable boilers are also assembled in the Czech Republic and Italy. Why there? This is not difficult to understand - some manufacturers keep the brand. This happens because they have been known to consumers, without exaggeration, for decades. What do we have? The situation is different - the domestic heating boiler market is flooded with fakes, so when purchasing, you need to pay special attention to the warranty card, certificate of permission for technical operation, certificate of conformity, as well as a special examination certificate. You should never buy a cheap boiler at the expense of quality - such a purchase will bring nothing but disappointment. Why is there no water flowing into the fire tube boiler? You need to know the principle of operation of the boiler. The operating principle is as follows: fuel enters the burner and burns, flammable gases move along 3 convolutions of flame tubes, around which there is water. The heat from the pipes leads to the boiling of water and the formation of steam; subsequently, a portion of the steam condenses in the boiler, and a portion is used for heating.
Don't buy cheap Chinese boilers - ever!
A heating boiler of the so-called gas type seems to be one of the best options for heating almost any room. The main advantage of a gas heating boiler is its reliability; in addition, such devices are quite unpretentious during operation. Why is that? Gas boilers are ideal for heating not only private housing, but also for heating any non-residential areas, for example, industrial premises, warehouses and others.
Discrepancy between the volume of water consumed and the power of the boiler used
If residents complain that there is no hot water coming from a gas boiler in a private house, the reason may be the fact that significantly more hot water is consumed than the boiler can physically heat. Heating hot water in a boiler is not an instantaneous operation. Therefore, the volume in the coolant must fully correspond to the amount of consumption.
The room is heated by water flowing in pipes (batteries). While it makes a full circle, it cools down. Therefore, during this time, a single-circuit or double-circuit gas boiler in a private house must heat the water for the next circle so that the circulation of the warm flow is continuous.
Vaillant boiler does not heat hot water due to blockages
This is one of the most common problems. Most often, the reason is poor water quality - scale appears, units, filters and pipes become clogged.
If the flame does not light up in the boiler, start checking with the flow sensor. Finding this cylindrical device is quite simple. The flow sensor is located near the pump; the wires go to it. There are two sensors installed near the pump:
- Pressure sensor in the heating system.
- Flow sensor.
The flow sensor looks like a small fan; it begins to rotate as water moves through the pipes. If the flow sensor detects the movement of water, the automation receives a signal to turn on the gas and heat the water. If the flow sensor is clogged, water will flow but the fan will not move. Accordingly, the signal to turn on the heating is not received. There are two ways to solve the problem:
- Don’t rush to disassemble the boiler and try to “blow out” the system first. Turn off the main water supply valve to the house. Open the hot water tap and drain the system. Now the percentage of air in the pipes has increased. Start sharply opening and closing the water tap immediately in front of the boiler. These simple manipulations will help create pressure and clear the flow sensor fan of debris.
- If “blowing” does not solve the problem, you need to open the boiler, unscrew the flow sensor and clean it manually.
If the Vaillant boiler does not heat hot water, you should check the secondary heat exchanger. It also tends to get clogged quickly. But, fortunately, it can be easily removed, cleaned and reinstalled.
A clogged three-way valve can also cause the boiler to fail to heat water. And you can remove this unit yourself, clean it and install it back.
Having purchased a Vailant boiler, be sure to find out from the seller information about the places where the filters are installed. You can clean and change these components yourself.
Heating of water in a Vailant boiler largely depends on the operation of the pump. To repair or replace this unit, you must call a specialist. But, you can check for yourself whether this is the reason for the boiler’s failure to work.
Set the water temperature on the boiler to 0 °C and turn on the water heating mode. During this time, monitor the operation of the pump. If after 20 minutes of operation it does not heat up, then the problem is with the pump.
The reason for the boiler’s failure to heat water may also be due to a simple loosening of the bolts at the connection areas. Carefully examine the boiler diagram and check that all connections fit tightly. Perhaps simply tightening the bolts will solve your problem.
Too much draft in the chimney
High-quality supply ventilation in high chimneys leads to strong draft. Too much draft blows the flame away with strong gusts of wind, like outside.
Read more in the article: Why does the wind blow out a gas boiler?
Consequently, a gas boiler does not heat running water in the system well. To understand this reason, you need to imagine a burning fire in the middle of a field with a strong wind (the flame will also be blown out by the wind).
The normal indicator is changing the air in the boiler room three times. Sometimes, the indicator reaches ten or fifteen times during the period of heating the water for the next circle. Modern heating systems are equipped with special systems (dampers) that regulate draft. However, many older models remain sensitive to the force of the air flowing outside.
Errors and their codes
Error codes that may occur during the operation of Baksi gas boilers can be divided into two groups:
- complete blocking of equipment operation;
- switching the device to standby mode.
If the installation is completely blocked, you will need to restart the boiler manually. The blocking is activated if serious problems occur in the boiler operation, which can pose a serious danger to human health. Failures that cause the boiler to block include overheating of the equipment, and in addition, lack of draft. Blocking also occurs if there is no gas supply. The error resolves itself in rare cases. If this happens, the device starts in automatic mode.
Error E01
This error is the most common. When the flame control sensor is triggered, this code is displayed. Several reasons can lead to its appearance:
- no gas supply;
- there is no correspondence between phase and zero; this reason is relevant for phase-dependent models;
- no contact with flame sensor;
- the sensor is dirty or faulty;
- there are malfunctions in the ignition system;
- the gas valve is faulty or the electronic board is faulty;
- air access is insufficient for normal combustion;
- The gas pressure in the system is insufficient.
If this code appears on the display, then the first thing to do is check whether the sensor is connected correctly. It is also worth checking the gas supply. If everything is normal, then in this case you can press R. It should be held for 3 seconds.
If accidentally triggered, the equipment will continue to operate normally. If the error continues to appear, then in this case you should contact a specialist . Note that the occurrence of this error is associated with problems in the electronics. If you try to solve the problem on your own, then everything can end disastrously for gas equipment.
Error E10
Another common mistake is E10. The main reason for its occurrence is sensors that monitor the operation of pumps and monitor water circulation. This error may appear on the unit display in the following cases:
- the coolant pressure in the system has decreased;
- there is no contact between the board and the pressure switch;
- pressure switch is faulty;
- the pump operation sensor has become faulty;
- there are malfunctions in the pump;
- heat exchanger clogged.
If this error occurs, you should not try to fix it yourself. Self-repair is acceptable if the pump needs to be replaced. Carrying out this event will not be difficult. You can also clean the filters without assistance. All other work related to the repair of the Baksi boiler should be performed by an experienced specialist.
Errors E96, E97, E98
Urgent repairs by a qualified specialist are required if the gas boiler display shows errors E96, E97, E98. If they occur, it is unacceptable for the owner of the equipment to interfere with the operation of the boiler. The prohibition on intervention in the event of these errors is due to the fact that these three codes appear when the electronic board has become faulty.
Problems with setting the boiler gas valve
It is necessary not only to install the device correctly, but also to set up hot water on the gas boiler. If this is not done, the outlet pressure may be lower or higher than the specified norm, as well as a number of other errors made by unqualified specialists.
In this case, the device will operate at only part of its capacity. Consequently, heating in a room with a heating boiler will be less efficient. If this reason is identified, it is necessary to call specialists from the service company to eliminate the error.

Setting up a Navien gas boiler with your own hands
Korean-made Navien heating boilers are popular in our country.
They are reliable and at the same time affordable in price. Due to the great demand for these devices, setting up a Navien gas boiler is a pressing issue among buyers. Manufacturers of Navien produce devices of different capacities, floor-mounted, wall-mounted and with a hot water supply function. They can be connected both to a centralized line and to gas cylinders. The units have a modern appearance that allows them to fit into any home interior. Navien gas boilers are equipped with a safety group, which includes:
- modulating turbocharging;
- protection against coolant freezing;
- SMPS chip that protects against power surges;
- temperature sensor control panel, which allows you to adjust the operation of the unit to certain circumstances.
The most common model of Navien gas units is Deluxe, so let’s look at them in more detail.
Setting up a Navien gas boiler
Next, we’ll look at how to set up a Navien Deluxe gas boiler with your own hands. Manipulations are carried out using a remote control with a built-in room temperature sensor.
Heating settings
To set the heating mode and set the coolant temperature, hold down the button with the image of a radiator until the same icon appears on the screen. If the “radiator” picture blinks, it means that the set coolant temperature is displayed on the screen. If the symbol does not flash, the actual water heating level is displayed.
To set the desired temperature, use the “+” and “-” buttons with the “radiator” icon flashing. The possible range is from 40ºC to 80ºC. Once the temperature is set, it will be automatically saved. The “radiator” icon will blink for a few seconds, after which the actual temperature of the coolant will be displayed on the screen.
Heating with air temperature control
To set the desired air temperature in the room, you need to hold down the “radiator” button until the image “house with thermometer” appears on the screen. It means “Heating with room temperature control” mode.
When the “house with thermometer” symbol is flashing, the desired room temperature is displayed on the screen. When the icon is not flashing, the display shows the actual room temperature.
When the icon is flashing, using the “+” and “-” buttons, the desired level of heating in the room is set, adjustable in the range of 10-40ºC. The temperature is then automatically saved and the icon stops flashing.
Setting the hot water temperature
To set the hot water temperature, you need to hold down the “water tap” button until a similar flashing symbol appears in the right corner. You can then set the desired hot water temperature between 30ºC and 60ºC. The settings will be automatically saved and the “water tap” symbol will stop flashing.
Note! In the “Hot water priority” mode, the water heating temperature is regulated differently.
Now let’s look at how to configure the Navien Deluxe gas boiler in the “Hot water priority” mode. To activate it, hold down the “water tap” key until the “faucet and light” symbol appears on the screen. Now you can set the desired temperature using the “+” and “-” keys. While the DHW temperature is changing, the “water tap” icon should flash above the “tap and light” symbol.
The “Hot water priority” mode involves preparing a supply of water at a given temperature even if it is not in use. It allows you to supply heated water to the consumer a few seconds earlier.
Away Mode
The “Away” mode means the gas boiler operates only for preparing hot water. To switch the unit to this mode, you need to press the button that shows an arrow and a water tap. The “water tap” symbol that appears on the screen means that the “Away from Home” mode is set. The actual temperature in the room is displayed next to it.
Note! This mode is convenient for use in the warm season, when hot water supply is necessary, but there is no need for heating.
Setting the Timer mode
The “Timer” mode is necessary to set the time for stopping the operation of the gas boiler within the range from 0 to 12 hours. The unit will work for half an hour, turning off for the specified interval.
To set the “Timer” mode, hold down the “radiator” button until the “clock” symbol appears. When the icon is flashing, use the “+” and “-” keys to set the interval time. The set value is saved, the “clock” stops blinking, and the display shows the actual air temperature.
How to increase the time between starting and shutting down a gas boiler?
If there is a problem with frequent switching on and off (“clocking”) of a gas boiler, you can change the difference between starting and stopping the unit. This is possible using the Navien engineering menu:
- Turn off the remote control and press two buttons “+” and “-” at the same time.
- A number from 2 to 20 appears on the display. Usually 8 or 10.
- Use the “+” and “-” keys to increase the delta value between start and shutdown.
- After 5 seconds, the remote control goes out.
- The boiler is turned off and then turned on again.
Now the gas unit will operate in a new mode.

Gas filter clogged
It is installed at the inlet of the boiler to further filter the incoming gas. Protects heating equipment from substances that cause malfunctions. A clogged gas filter delays the flow of gas, which reduces the combustion force, and accordingly the temperature in the house will drop.
The degree of contamination is assessed visually when the filter is unscrewed from the boiler. It is necessary to perform such a manipulation when the equipment is completely turned off.
Attention: A dirty filter must be replaced with a new one.
How to fix the situation?
If the pressure of hot water in the column decreases, you need to identify the cause and correct it.
Each problem has its own solution:
Problem | Solution |
Clogged filter | A mesh filter is installed in the heat exchanger, immediately at the “inlet”. This part can be dismantled, cleaned with an old toothbrush, and rinsed under the pressure of clean water. When cleaning, you may notice damage to the filter. In this case, it is better to replace the mesh with a new one. Otherwise, it will let particles of dirt into the column, which will lead to its failure. |
Scale formation in the heat exchanger | To remove limescale, you can use aggressive industrial products. They are designed for flushing speaker radiators. Since such compounds are made of acid, cleaning them yourself can lead to failure of the heat exchanger. Therefore, it is better to use folk remedies. For example, a solution of citric acid. |
Clogged tubes | The difficulty of cleaning lies in starting the reverse flow of cold water. It is necessary to remove the plug, install a basin under the column (where the water will drain), and open both taps. The spout must be clamped with your finger. With good pressure, water moving in the opposite direction will dislodge the blockage. It will pour out along with the water into the substituted container. |
Faucet failure | Small debris that forms in the gas water heater can reach the mixer. In this case, contamination enters the faucet axle box and the faucet filter. To fix the problem, you need to disassemble the mixer. After dismantling, you need to examine every detail. If necessary, clean or replace with a new one. In some cases, installation of a new faucet is required. |
If the dispenser has warranty service, it is better to entrust the cleaning work to a service technician. Otherwise the owner will lose the warranty.
If problems arise with the water heating boiler, then it is necessary to identify and eliminate the cause:
blockages - clean the filters installed at the entrance to the boiler;- scale on heating elements - clean with citric acid solution or industrial means;
- appearance of cracks on the tank - replacement of equipment;
- malfunction of the pressure regulator and thermostat - replacement;
- blockages of the faucet or its parts - cleaning the faucet axle box, filter.
If there is a significant decrease in water pressure from the boiler, you should stop using it until the problems are resolved.
The occurrence of leaks in systems with automatic make-up
Automatic make-up systems are installed in powerful boiler houses serving industries and apartment buildings. In large private houses, sometimes they resort to a similar measure to strengthen the heating system.
The operating principle of automatic recharge is as follows. When the pressure of the incoming gas drops, the system turns on and maintains the required level for some time. The system is equipped with a pressure sensor, which it completely relies on for operation. For example, a water leak in pipes led to a drop in pressure. The make-up system pumps in a larger volume of new water to maintain pressure.
For some time, the system will retain heat. However, a large supply of new water will lead to the fact that the device will not have time to heat it and, accordingly, the boiler itself will not maintain the set temperature of hot water in the system.
Heat exchanger clogged
Despite the fact that in every gas heating system, water purification filters are installed at the coolant inlet, the heat exchangers tend to become dirty. The cause of pollution is due to various natural impurities found in water. Salt and calcium deposits form on the walls, which are not so easy to clean. And if this is not done on time, then over time the heat exchanger will fail.
The shelf life also depends on the material. For example, the most durable ones are cast iron, although they are the most expensive. The most unreliable are steel ones. Their service life is only about 3 - 5 years.
You can read more about heat exchangers here: Which heat exchanger design and material to choose
You can find many cleaning methods on the Internet. Let's look at the two most popular ones.
Chemical cleaning of biothermal heat exchanger
Modern technologies use special chemical reagents to clean the bithermal heat exchanger. Before performing any manipulations, the boiler completely stops and cools down. Then the heat exchanger is removed. There may be water left in it, so it must be carefully drained.
In a container of sufficient size to completely immerse the heat exchanger, liquid with chemical reagents is diluted, then the bithermic heat exchanger is immersed. Cleaning time, solution concentration, and the need to use additional protective equipment (gloves) are indicated in the instructions for use for each individual reagent and depend on its chemical properties.
After this procedure, the hot water (heating) heat exchanger is washed under cold running water, dried, and installed in place. You can run it.
Chemical cleaning of the secondary heat exchanger
To chemically clean the secondary heat exchanger, you can use citric acid, active thermal agent, STEELTEXT Cooper, Detex liquid concentrate or hydrochloric acid. The choice of one or another component depends on the degree of contamination and the material from which the heat exchanger is made. It is necessary to pump 10 liters of solution to clean it thoroughly.
The process of removal and installation with cleaning is best left to professionals. Gas equipment is complex, despite its apparent simplicity, and dangerous for unqualified maintenance.
Malfunctions of heating boilers
A dirty heat exchanger is a common reason for the lack of hot water in the DHW circuit.
Common boiler breakdowns include:
- coolant leak;
- water hammer;
- after turning on the burner, the lock is activated;
- the burner does not turn on;
- fuel burns unevenly, in waves;
- soot is formed;
- decreased productivity;
- During operation of the burner, the ignition is switched on;
- soot forms on the walls of the chimney and combustion chamber.
To resolve a problem, you must first determine the cause of the problem.
Built-in pump malfunction
The reason for the lack of hot water may be a clogged built-in pump.
An important part in the heating system is the circulation pump. The quality of heating and the functioning of hot water supply depend on its uninterrupted operation. There are several signs and causes of breakdowns:
- The unit makes uncharacteristic sounds. This occurs due to oxidation of the shaft, the entry of a foreign object into the structure, problems with the power supply, air in the pipes, dry running of the mechanism, and the appearance of cavitation.
- After turning on the boiler, the pump does not start. Perhaps there is no power supply, the fuse has tripped.
- After a short period of time after switching on, the structure switches off: limescale deposits in the stator shell.
- Hot water does not turn on in a double-circuit boiler.
Also, the reasons for poor operation of the circulation pump are poor pressure in the system, wear of the bearing, which causes additional vibrations in the line, and low pressure.
To troubleshoot problems, you need to check the presence of electricity, clean the pipes and other elements, replace failed parts, and remove foreign objects from the system.
The heat exchanger is clogged
You can clean the heat exchanger from scale using a solution of citric acid and an electric charge.
Heated gases are transported through channels, which are collectively called a heat exchanger. The design features are that the walls of the artery simultaneously serve as partitions of the water circuit, along which the coolant constantly moves, heating the metal surface. The combustion process is associated with the intense release of flue gases, partly consisting of soot and tar, which create a deposit inside the boiler, on the chimney. Therefore, the manufacturer recommends regularly cleaning the equipment at least once every 30 days and during the preparation of the device for the heating season.
We recommend: Installing a instantaneous water heater with your own hands: step-by-step instructions
When soot settles on surfaces, the performance of the mechanism decreases, fuel consumption increases, and the risk of costly breakdowns and internal fire in the contaminated area increases.
Chemical cleaning of bithermal heat exchanger
Washing is carried out without dismantling the heat exchanger; to perform the procedure, you will need a booster with a volume of 20-30 liters. Before starting work, it is necessary to drain the coolant from the heating system using a Mayevsky tap.
Fill the booster reservoir with the flushing solution, and lower the hoses into the container, the free ends of which are connected to the heat exchanger pipes. Liquid movement is possible only under the action of a circulation pump; it must be connected to one of the hoses.
The ends of the hoses must be put on the heat exchanger pipes, and the free ends must be placed in a booster with flushing liquid, connecting the circulation pump. Work can be performed without removing the heat exchanger
It would be ideal to connect a reversible pump with the ability to change the direction of fluid flow. All that remains is to start the boiler for heating at a set temperature of 50-60 degrees and leave for 15 minutes, periodically changing the direction of circulation.
Chemical cleaning of the secondary heat exchanger
Flushing the secondary heat exchanger of a double-circuit gas boiler can be performed in a similar way to flushing a bithermic heat exchanger. However, you need to take into account that the secondary heat exchanger is easily removed, so you can improve the quality of cleaning by dismantling it.
To gain access to the heat exchanger, it is necessary to dismantle the front panel of the unit and move the control unit to the side. The heat exchanger is secured with two bolts at the bottom, which can be easily removed by unscrewing them.
It is most effective to place the heat exchanger removed from its original location for washing in a container with a salt-dissolving solution and boil it. Instead of a suitable household product, you can use a 20% citric acid solution.
Good results can be achieved by boiling the secondary heat exchanger in a washing solution
When cleaning any heat exchanger, the final stage is rinsing with clean water. This measure is necessary to remove traces of a chemically aggressive substance and stop its effect on the walls of the heat exchanger.
There is another way to clean the heat exchanger - hydrodynamic. Its implementation requires special equipment and pressure control at each stage of cleaning. Therefore, without special knowledge and skills, doing it yourself can be dangerous.
Regular cleaning of the heat exchanger will avoid the need to use very aggressive compounds and will make it possible to extend its service life. It is recommended to clean the heat exchanger annually at the end of the heating season.
Problems with the heating circuit
The pump must be selected according to the requirements of the heating circuit.
Malfunctions in the operating mode of the heating circuit are not always associated with a malfunction of the main heating element. If the boiler works, but does not heat the batteries, the reason must be sought in the wiring itself.
List of main heating circuit malfunctions:
- the filter on the return line or the needle tap (Maevsky tap) is clogged;
- insufficient power of the circulation pump;
- the rules for installing a heating circuit with natural circulation have not been followed.
Any of the above problems must be resolved before the start of the heating season. Otherwise, the room may be left without heat for several days, since the repair involves completely draining the coolant.
So, why doesn’t the boiler heat the batteries if everything worked fine over the previous years? The reason is a dirt plug that has formed on the heating circuit filter and completely blocks the coolant flow. It can be solved simply - the water is drained from the pipes or its circulation is blocked using bypasses, and the filter is cleaned. To prevent a recurrence of such a situation, it is necessary to completely replace the coolant with parallel flushing of the entire circuit.
In a gravity system, the slope of the pipes is key.
The second reason why the boiler works but the radiators are cold is the insufficient power of the circulation pump. The performance of the device is not enough to pump the entire volume of coolant in a timely and efficient manner. Or the heating system in the house has branches that are located at a significant distance from the pump. As a result, the circulation pump overheats, the heating equipment operates with excessive energy consumption, and the radiators remain cold. The solution is to change the coolant pumping device to a more powerful one.
If the house has a two-pipe heating circuit with natural circulation of water, and during the heating season it is often noticed that the boiler is on and the radiators are cold, then the reason lies in non-compliance with the slope of the main line. According to regulatory documentation, only a pipe slope of 10 mm per linear meter in a heating system with natural circulation will ensure normal coolant movement. The result is uniform heating of the batteries throughout the house. If there is no slope, the coolant stagnates, which negatively affects the temperature of the radiators. The problem can be solved by completely redoing the wiring.
Modulation errors on the burner
To heat running water, in most cases a boiler power close to maximum is required. In modern boilers, the burner power is regulated over a wide range. The adjustment occurs by changing the amount of gas supplied by the gas valve. The amount of adjustment is determined by the control board depending on the operating logic and settings. The process can be observed visually by the height of the flames on the burner.
If the boiler settings are set to 100% boiler power in DHW mode, but visually the flames on the burner are weak, or obvious interruptions are visible, then you should check:
- setting the gas valve (static and dynamic gas pressure)
- control board
Such checks should only be performed by a qualified person.
Three-way valve
A three-way valve is installed in boilers with two heat exchangers. When a signal is received from the flow sensor, the electronics gives a signal to the valve and the heated water from the first heat exchanger is sent to the second heat exchanger, where the heat is transferred to the passing tap water. If, for example, no actual switching occurs (the valve is faulty), then the coolant will continue to circulate in the heating circuit and no heat transfer to the hot water circuit will occur.
If, for example, a valve only partially closes the heating circuit due to a malfunction, then there will be problems with insufficient heating of hot water, since part of the heat will go to the heating system.

Problems with the flow sensor
A possible reason why a gas boiler may stop heating water is a problem with the flow sensor. The device is a small fan that rotates under the influence of water flow. As a result of rotation, a signal is sent to the control board to heat the water. Due to clogging, the fan may stop rotating.
You can clear the blockage without dismantling the device. To clean it, just open and close the water supply tap several times. If such actions do not give the desired result, you will have to remove the sensor and clean it.
To do this you need:
- Disconnect the gas boiler from the electrical network;
- Turn off the water supply tap;
- Drain the water from the unit.
Typically, the flow sensor is secured with a bracket, by removing which you can easily remove the device. The assembly is removed completely; to remove the inner part, you need to turn the parts in the groove. During disassembly, you should clean the filter mesh and remove the turbine.
Often, turbine blades are covered with a layer of rust that needs to be thoroughly cleaned. If you remove the three clamps, you can remove the turbine itself to clean the internal plane of its landing. Now all that remains is to reassemble in reverse order.
When disassembling the flow sensor, you need to clean the filter and turbine blades
If cleaning the flow sensor does not bring the desired result and there is no hot water, you will have to replace the entire assembly.
Problems with the flow sensor
Heating equipment is equipped with various sensors. Among them are water temperature sensors, combustion sensors, flow sensors and others. A failed flow sensor leads to automatic shutdown of the boiler with a corresponding error message.
To determine the error by the displayed code, you need to look at the instruction manual. The identified cause is corrected by replacing the faulty sensor with a new one. To do this, it is recommended to call a service company.
We recommend reading: Why the gas boiler does not work, causes and troubleshooting methods.
The main problems are why the boiler does not heat water
More often, boiler problems are detected during the heating season, when both circuits of the device are operating. There are two main problems that owners of wall-mounted gas boilers such as Ariston face:
- all boiler systems are working, the device turns on, but heats the water poorly or does not heat at all;
- the boiler does not start and, as a result, no hot water is supplied.
Each of these problems has its own causes and solutions. To troubleshoot problems, you need to figure out what caused them and what caused them.
Before finding out the reasons for the malfunction of the unit, you should look at the operating manual, read the instructions and check that the settings and connections of the device are correct.
Note! Modern gas boilers are equipped with a diagnostic system that detects faults and displays an error code on the display. The instructions for the unit will help you decipher the codes.
If all requirements and conditions are met, the most common causes of malfunctions should be considered:
- Blockage. Experts say that using unfiltered working fluid increases the risk of clogging the heat exchanger pipes. The resulting scale reduces its thermal conductivity, which causes the unit to operate with excessive energy consumption. In this case, the optimal temperature regime is not achieved even with continuous operation of the device. Due to limescale deposited inside the heat exchanger pipes, the metal is subject to corrosive changes, which can lead to its rupture.
- Faulty pump. The circulation of the coolant may be stopped due to the accumulation of air, the so-called air lock in the pump. The second cause of a pump malfunction may be a rotor that is jammed. A circulation pump that stops functioning can lead to overheating of the gas boiler.
- The flow sensor is stuck. Inside the boiler there is a sensor in the form of a turbine, resembling a small fan. When the turbine rotates inside the sensor, an electrical pulse is generated due to the fluid flow, which is supplied to the control unit. This way the electrical system understands that it needs to warm up the coolant.
- The three-way valve is stuck. Such a malfunction will not allow you to switch the water supply from heating to DHW. Valve stoppage can occur due to blockage, either in the part itself or in the gas hose or filter.
- Insufficient pressure. If the volume of liquid in the system does not create the required pressure, the water supply valve does not open, which leads to burner ignition failure.
When you know the reason why the boiler does not heat the water, you can try to eliminate it yourself. Manufacturers often make mechanical components available for self-service.
Important! When troubleshooting problems on your own, before starting work, you must disconnect the unit from the electrical power supply and free the internal components from the coolant.
Further on the situation:
- If the heat exchanger is clogged, you can clean it using special liquids, or using proven home remedies for descaling. In the future, it is better to use filter devices at the coolant inlet to the boiler.
- If the cause is a faulty pump, you should disassemble it and inspect the rotor. If foreign particles are found that block free movement, they must be removed. The filter should also be inspected for clogging.
- When the cause of the malfunction is the water flow sensor, it is necessary to remove from it the part containing the turbine inside. If, when rotating with your finger, it begins to click or slow down as it moves, this means that there are foreign particles in the body. You should try to flush the turbine and clean each of its blades using a cotton swab dipped in cleaning fluid.
- The three-way valve, if it caused a boiler malfunction, also needs to be cleaned, and at the same time check the gas hose and filter.
- If the pressure is low, you should check all fittings and valves on the device, the pressure with which water flows from the mixer. If there are no leaks and the pressure is weak or absent, then simply replenishing water in the expansion tank will help solve the problem.
One of the main tips is to follow the operating rules and follow the manufacturers' recommendations.
It is important to remember that prevention is always more profitable and better than repair. Timely maintenance and checking of the main components of the system will extend the service life of the autonomous heating device
As you know, the boiler is filtered from various impurities using a mesh filter that traps debris with rust particles. The lattice top gasket becomes clogged, and a lump of debris prevents the fluid from flowing freely. Therefore, it can end at one moment.
To resume normal boiler filling, you need to remove the plug, wash the mesh and return everything back. There are replaceable types of filters that are filled with helium or air. Bad material leaks out and clogs the water pipes. Buying a normal water supply filter or cleaning the water intake pipes with a brush will help save the situation.
The hot water temperature sensor is faulty
The second most important sensor measures the temperature in the water supply system in the house. This malfunction can cause the faucet in the house to supply water that is too hot or not hot enough.
When turning on the water on the faucet, a person does not think about possible malfunctions and can easily get burned. Therefore, this malfunction leads to the boiler stopping with the corresponding error being displayed. Some manufacturers do not equip boilers with a stop system in case of this malfunction, so consult with specialists which equipment to choose before purchasing.
Why the boiler does not heat well and does not reach temperature
No hot water? For what reasons does the equipment not work? Sometimes it's a matter of external factors. Let's take a closer look.
The device works, but does not heat or heats poorly
Airlock. Check to see if air has accumulated in the batteries. Use taps to remove excess air. If you don't have an air vent on your radiators, then you need to install one. By adjusting its tap, you can release the accumulated air in the system.
Also inspect the valve for blockages. Most often it becomes clogged with scale.
Clogged radiators . After cooling, drain the water from the pipes. If it is very dirty, run it through the batteries until it comes out clean.
Incorrect connection . If there is no hot flow, make sure that the diameter of the pipes corresponds to those stated in the instructions. Are the hoses connected correctly and the shut-off valves installed?
Low pressure in the line . It is not enough to open the valve and ignite the burner. Add water.
Scale accumulation in the heat exchanger. You may notice that the equipment takes a long time to heat up the liquid, and the batteries heat up slightly. Clean the radiator tubes from deposits. To do this, it is better to remove the unit, but this cannot be done in all models. Therefore, remove the casing and disconnect the device from gas and water. Connect the tubes from the pump to the heat exchanger and circulate the cleaning liquid through the system. Special products can be selected in the store. Then rinse the parts with running water.
Adding reagents to the coolant fluid helps reduce the formation of salts on parts.
When purchasing, it is important to pay attention to the brand and model of the boiler. For example, Electrolux, Arderia, Ariston, Buderus prohibit the use of the reagent. It is recommended to install cleaning filters or use distilled water.
Antifreeze can be applied to Baxi, Beretta, Vaillant, Proterm, Celtic, and Korea Star models. But a separate reagent is produced for each manufacturer.
Filter clogged . Another reason for poor battery warm-up. The mesh filter becomes clogged with small debris, so it is periodically removed and cleaned under running water. If the part is severely clogged or worn, it is better to replace it.
Incorrect adjustment . Check the set values on the panel. The temperature may be set too low, so the gas is not heating the hot water.
Problems with the operation of the circulation pump . Overheating, the pump turns off when hot water is turned on. Its power may not be enough for normal circulation. Adjust settings.
The battery design is not suitable for your equipment . Each design has its own permeability and heat transfer. An incorrect choice leads to a decrease in heating due to the permeability of the system.
Failure to comply with the slope of the highway . The problem is typical for systems with natural circulation, which is ensured by compliance with installation standards. According to the documents, the slope of the pipes for each linear meter must be at least 10 mm. No slope - no heating. The coolant stagnates, the batteries remain cold.
The gas boiler does not turn on, does not provide hot water for hot water supply
The main cause of malfunctions is salt deposition . The larger the scale layer in the heat exchanger, the worse the conductivity. The water takes a long time to heat up, and a thin, slightly warm stream flows out. Also, a piece of scale could break off and block the passage to the mixer. We described above what to do in this situation.
Problems with the flow sensor . The part works on the principle of a fan, which rotates due to the movement of the flow. The sensor may not work if there is a blockage. To clean without dismantling, open and close the tap located near the circulation pump.
If the procedure does not help restore operation, you will have to remove the sensor, clean it and reinstall it.
Three way valve malfunction . If the valve is jammed or broken, it will not be possible to switch the water supply from the heating system to the domestic hot water supply. The cause of the problem could be a clogged part, gas hose or filter. Clean all elements.
There are many reasons for malfunctions. The signs we describe will help you determine what problem has arisen in your circuit. Pay attention to the operation of the equipment and compare with the indicated problems. If you cannot fix the problem yourself, contact a specialist.
Excess power
Excess power, as well as its lack, negatively affects the heating device. It can also lead to overheating and other problems. Therefore, the device stops in emergency mode and displays the corresponding error. You can try restarting the heating equipment. However, first, it is better to understand the reasons and eliminate them.
In conclusion, it should be noted that some faults can be determined independently by the method of elimination. Errors shown by the boiler are always described in its documentation. But it is not recommended for people without certain qualifications to interfere with the operation of the device.
