The presence of errors on the display of an Ariston gas boiler indicates the presence of malfunctions that do not allow the equipment to function correctly. Our task is to respond in a timely manner and carry out repairs, otherwise in the future we will not be able to do without large expenses.

Some errors are simply the user's carelessness. Others indicate a breakdown of a specific part. Thanks to coding, you can quickly identify an area that needs a thorough inspection and repair.

Types of errors

Ariston gas boilers are convenient in that all generated errors are grouped directly by node. This simplifies the process of troubleshooting, since one error cannot have several diverse causes in different parts of the boiler. Accordingly, the search for the problem is accelerated and repairs are simplified.

The manufacturer has divided all possible faults into several units:

  1. Heating circuit - errors in this part of the boiler occur most often and are associated mainly with improper operation of the device or failure of individual parts. Errors start at one.

Fault code 501 means there is no flame on the burner.
Fault code 502, on the contrary, means the presence of a flame on the burner, but with the gas valve closed.

Also, the control system can issue several warning codes, which respectively indicate unsuccessful ignition attempts in different modes (codes 5P1, 5P2, 5P3).


Like other boilers, Ariston detects the presence of a flame using a special ionization electrode located on the gas burner next to the ignition electrodes, but does this in three attempts, if there is such a need. The easiest way to figure it out is to look at the logic behind the ignition.

Attempt 1: ignition is carried out at a power equal to 80% of the rated power (for soft ignition mode), if after 8 seconds of a protective delay the flame is not registered by the sensor, the system issues an alert 5 P1 and the boiler proceeds to the second attempt;

Attempt 2: the soft ignition power is set to 90% and if at the end of the protective pause 8 s. there is no flame on the burner - 5 P2 is issued, the device makes a last attempt;

Attempt 3 - full power, if no flame is detected - the boiler gives the user error 501, while the fan continues to operate at maximum speed for 40 seconds, and then for another 2 minutes at minimum speed.

  • position of the flame control electrode and reliability of contact with the board
  • reliable contact of the supply wire with the ignition generator

Error 101 means overheating, the sensor has tripped, and after cooling the boiler starts up. The reason may be the accumulation of scale in the heat exchanger, as a result of which the flow decreases and the temperature increases, or interruptions in the operation of the circulation pump. The expansion tank may become depressurized or the membrane in the expansion tank may become unusable - seal the tank or change the membrane.

Drill a hole on the reverse side to attach the spool to it. We insert the spool into the inside of the bottle and secure it. We pour water into the bottle, close the tap and connect the heating system to it through a hose, connect the pump to the spool and, pumping it, pour the water into the heating system. We repeat the procedure of pumping water into the system until the pressure normalizes to 1.5 Atm.

Error 109 appears when the excess pressure is above 3 Bar and is considered one of the infrequent ones. To eliminate it, you need to relieve the pressure, as prescribed in the instructions for the device, using the Mayevsky tap. if this does not help, most likely the reason lies in the secondary heat exchanger.

Error 117, according to the instructions for the Ariston BS 24 FF unit, means insufficient circulation. To eliminate this, press the reset button, in this case the system will check and adjust the temperature difference at the inlet and outlet of 3.5 degrees in 8 seconds.

If there is a break in the circuit or a short circuit of the sensor at the supply to the hot water supply circuit, error 201 appears. You should check the contacts, perhaps they have oxidized, or the wire has come loose, or the sensor itself is faulty and will have to be replaced.

Error 302 appears on the display when there is no circuit between the control board and the display. The reason may be a broken contact or oxidation; in this case, the contacts should be connected or cleaned. The control board may also fail and require replacement.

Error 303 means the main control board is faulty; the only solution to the problem is to replace it.
