Error code E01 - Flame error

You can fix this problem yourself. The flame of the gas burner probably went out unexpectedly or did not light up again. You need to use the Reset button for the boiler to start working. If the attempt is unsuccessful, you need to check the opening/closing of the gas supply, as well as whether it is in the cylinder.

Incorrect electrical supply – At the moment of error 01 on the display, use the Reset button to restart the boiler. If the fault remains, it is recommended to check for correct phase, ground and neutral connections. If connected incorrectly, the unit may not detect the flame, even during the heating process. The neutral is probably in a state of imbalance.

Error code E02 - Protection thermostat error

Due to overheating, the protection thermostat turned on. You can fix this problem yourself. The screen usually displays the following message: restarting. Turn off the Herman boiler, wait for it to cool down and press the Reset button. In case of repeated cases, contact the service organization.

Error code E03 - Error in the safety valve that controls smoke removal

The safety valve that controls the smoke removal has turned on. Incorrect smoke removal occurred. Possibly related to gusts of wind. You should use the Reset button. If error 03 occurs frequently, it is recommended to check the chimney.

Error code E05 - Heating temperature sensor is damaged

Contact your service organization.

Error code E06 - Hot water temperature sensor malfunction

The following message will light up on the device screen: service. You should contact a service organization.

Error code E09 - Signal for maintenance required

The unit signals that maintenance is required. It is recommended to invite specialists. In this case, the boiler will continue to operate normally. Press the key and the problem will disappear for a while. But if this operation has to be used more than three times, then error 06 will be displayed constantly.

Error code E10 - The sensor indicates a lack of pressure

In the case of error 10, it is necessary to check the air bleed valves on the radiators, as this sometimes affects the pressure drop in the system.

Error code E11 - (for Hermann SE models) Blocking of the smoke exhaust device

The device responsible for smoke removal is blocked. You should contact a service organization.

Error code E18 – Filling the heating system with water

This problem is resolved automatically. When the pressure in the system drops, the unit is filled with water from the water supply. You should wait for the cycle to complete and the fault should go away. If the pressure does not return to normal three times in 24 hours, the unit will be blocked and errors with code E19 or E21 will appear. In this case, you should contact a service company.

Error code E19 – Water filling was not completed within the allotted time period

The red indicator will start flashing and show the inscription: service. In this case, you should contact a service organization.

Error code E21 – Reduced water pressure in the heating system

Already completed three automatic recharges within 24 hours. This is mainly due to the fact that air remains in the system. There may also be a coolant leak. It is recommended to contact a service organization.

Error code E22 – Memory data inconsistency

Call a technician. The following message lights up on the screen: service. It is recommended to contact a service organization.

Error code E24 – Safety thermostat error

It is possible to solve the problem yourself. The temperature under the boiler is increased. The protection thermostat must control its level to ensure safety from possible damage to the floor covering. In such a situation, the unit will be blocked from the heating function, but will work stably on DHW. When the floors have cooled down, you need to reset the thermostat and press the Reset button. The command can be executed with a 30 second delay. If these steps do not solve the problem, you should contact a service company.

Error code E33 – Incorrect configuration of electrical connections

In case of this malfunction, it is recommended to contact service.

Error code E35 – No flame registration

This problem resolves itself. If the protection component detects a flame when there is no flame, it locks the device. You should use the Reset button. If the Herman boiler is blocked again, you need to contact a service organization.

Error code E36 – General fuse tripped

The user can fix this problem himself. If the fault reappears when you press the reset button, you should call a specialist.

Error code E38 – Damage to the external temperature sensor

It is recommended to contact a service company.

Error code E39 – Heat exchanger frozen

Call a specialist. This malfunction occurs if the water or heating sensors record a temperature below 0 degrees. The unit begins to supply water to the system, and if the temperature does not increase by one degree within 15 minutes, the problem will remain. It is recommended to contact a service organization.

Error code E42 – Microprocessor problem

May occur due to overheating of the return. You should contact the service company.

If you are not 100% sure what exactly the problem is and that you can solve it, immediately contact the service center to diagnose and fix the problem.

Basic error codes

When boilers operate, malfunctions are inevitable. Let's look at the main error codes for a Hermann gas boiler:

1. Error e01 - no flame - can be eliminated yourself. Perhaps the burner flame suddenly went out or did not ignite in time. It is necessary to press the “reset” button, giving the boiler the command to ignite.
   If this fails, you need to check whether the gas supply is open and whether it is in the cylinder. Incorrect power supply - if error 01 appears on the display - “reset” - you must press this button.

   If the problem remains, you need to check the correct connection of the phase, grounding and neutral. If they are mixed up, then the device may not see the flame, even after it has flared up. The neutral may be out of balance.

2. Error e02 - the safety thermostat has tripped - can be eliminated on its own. Overheating has occurred. The display will usually show “reboot”. Turn off the unit and after cooling completely, press “reset”. If it doesn’t help, call a specialist.
3. Error e03 - the fuse responsible for removing smoke has tripped - can be eliminated. Smoke was removed incorrectly. Perhaps even a gust of wind. Click “reset”. If error 03 does not disappear, check the chimney.
4. e05 - heating temperature sensor is faulty - call a technician.

Temperature sensor (thermistor) for Hermann boilers

• e06 - DHW temperature sensor has failed - call a technician. Usually the display shows “service”.
• e09 - the time has come for maintenance - to invite a specialist. This does not prevent the boiler from working - you can press “reset” and the problem will disappear for a few days. However, after three such presses, error 06 will remain on the display permanently.
• e10 - the sensor on the bottom of the boiler indicates insufficient pressure - if error 10 occurs, you need to check the air release valves on the radiators - often the pressure in the system drops through them.
• e11 - the error is inherent in the “SE” model - blocking by the device responsible for removing smoke - call a specialist. Disconnect from the network, turn off the machine and apply voltage to the boiler again - if it does not work, you will have to contact the service center.
• e18 – water is being loaded into the heating system – it is eliminated automatically. Due to the pressure drop in the system, the boiler is loaded with water from the water supply. Wait until it finishes and the error should disappear.

  If the pressure is not restored three times within 24 hours, the boiler will go into lockout and error code e19 or e21 will be displayed. Then you should call a technician.

• e19 – replenishment was not completed within the specified time frame – call a technician.
• E21 - the pressure in the heating system is below the permissible level - is eliminated by a specialist. Sometimes this happens due to air residues in the system. A coolant leak is also possible.
• e22 – not consistent saved data – call a technician. The display usually shows “service”.
• E24 - the safety thermostat has given an error signal - you can fix it yourself if it is installed on the floor and there is an existing safety thermostat. The temperature under the appliance may be too high.
  The thermostat specifically monitors its level in order to protect owners from possible damage to the floor covering. In this case, the boiler will block the heating, but will continue to heat the water.

  
  Safety valve Wait until the floor cools down, restore the thermostat and press “reset” - there may be a delay of 30 seconds. If this does not help, you should call a technician.

• E33 – incorrect electrical installation configuration – error 33 is corrected by a technician.
• E35 - inappropriate flame - can be eliminated yourself. A special device blocks the boiler. IF A FLAME IS DETECTED WHEN IT SHOULD NOT BE. You need to press the “reset” button. If the device stops again, call a specialist.
• e36 - the general fuse has tripped - is eliminated by the User. If pressing the “Overload” button does not help, call a technician.
• E38 - external temperature sensor is faulty - call a technician.
• E39 – possible freezing of the heat exchanger – call a specialist. Occurs when water or heating sensors detect temperatures equal to or less than 0 degrees. The boiler begins to circulate water in the system and if within 15 minutes the temperature does not increase by 1 degree, the error will remain.
• Error e42 is an error related to the microprocessor. The return line may overheat - call a specialist.

Other faults

Hermann gas boilers, like most heating devices, consist of many electronic components that are responsible for the basic parameters of their operation. But there is one failure that is common to almost all models.


Progammator for Hermann boilers

When switching to the “Summer” mode, the boiler does not want to switch to hot water. When it is in winter mode, it does not respond to the opening of the hot water tap. As a result, the circulation pump in the heating system does not turn off.

In winter mode, if you open the hot water tap, the heating circuit does not turn off and hot water is drawn from the heat exchanger. It is typical that with such a malfunction, the indicators do not show errors. The reason for this behavior of the device is the flow sensor.

A reed switch sensor is installed on the cold water inlet pipe, which is controlled by a float valve with a magnet. There is simply nothing to break in it. Therefore, if it is necessary to transfer the boiler from one mode to another, you should be extremely careful and take your time.

Hermann Habitat boiler error codes

Consider the list below to be aware of possible errors in heating boilers specifically from the Hermann Habitat brand and to correct the problem in time.

Error code 01 - The burner was not turned on or the flame went out

Incorrect combustion. Operation can be restored by turning the Summer/Winter knob to the unlocked position until the red indicator goes out.

Error Code 05 - Touch Temperature Sensor Error (System Temperature Sensor)

One of the temperature sensors is out of order. Contact a service technician for troubleshooting (system temperature sensor).

Error Code 06 - Touch Temperature Sensor Error (DHW Touch Temperature Sensor)

One of the temperature sensors is out of order. Contact a technician for troubleshooting (DHW temperature sensor).

Error code 10 - Insufficient water pressure indicated by the sensor on the bottom of the boiler (0.5 bar or lower)

Restore the required coolant pressure in the system (optimally: 1–1.5 bar in a cold system) by opening the make-up valve. Do not restore pressure while hot, as the pressure will decrease when the system cools. Keep in mind that under normal conditions the pressure should not decrease. If this happens, there may be a leak in the heating system. Sometimes such losses are so small that they do not leave obvious traces, but over time they can lower blood pressure. Also, opening the manual air bleed valves on radiators (either intentionally or unintentionally) reduces the pressure in the system. Make sure this doesn't happen.

Reasons for the inability to reset the error

In many cases, the error displayed by the boiler diagnostics on the control panel has a software reason; to eliminate it, you will need to press the “Reset” button to start the boiler; sometimes this does not help and errors cannot be executed; in this case, there is either a serious failure in the control board or a real failure in the mechanical part of the boiler.

The latter occur due to untimely maintenance of boiler unit elements. A thrifty owner, like a motorist, will perform maintenance on the unit exactly on schedule, even when there are no obvious malfunctions in the operation of the mechanism. If the boiler is under warranty, contact the service center in all problematic cases.

In gas boilers, special attention needs to be paid to the gas burner, which clogs most often. It is necessary to carry out timely cleaning of soot deposits from the entire smoke exhaust tract of the boiler. It should be noted that the risk of failure on double-circuit units is much higher than on single-circuit ones. This is due to a more complex design, control system and long operating hours, since the double-circuit system operates non-stop all year round.
